The Kansas Sunflower Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and Hamm, Inc. are jointly sponsoring the SWANA Transfer Station Management Certification Training Course in-person at the Hamm offices in downtown Lawrence, KS. Attendees may choose to either attend Session #1 held on August 28-29, 2023 (Mon-Tue), or Session #2 held on August 30-31, 2023 (Thu-Fri).

The Transfer Station Management  course addresses factors in planning, design, operation, and management of a transfer station. You will learn how a well-planned, designed and operated transfer station provides advantages and flexibility to a waste management system. Discussion of how effective communication with the public and regulators helps mitigate challenges in planning and operating a transfer station, and how planning and design affect construction and operation.

Those who wish to become certified will need to register/login for a SWANA account and take the online certification exam after completion of the course. An in-person exam will not be offered at the completion of the course. Details for registering/enrolling for the online exam can be found here.

• Non-SWANA member from organization w/at least one SWANA member: $545

• Non-SWANA member from organization w/no SWANA member: $1,299

Exam Fees (online only):

• SWANA member: $250 (exam fee will be reimbursed for SWANA members with proof of passing exam)

• Non-SWANA member from organization w/at least one SWANA member: $400

The enrollment deadline is Friday, August 18. Course materials/lunch will be provided.
